Painting My Way Back to Myself
I want to share something with you all that’s really helped me, especially during times when my mind feels like it’s spinning out of control.
Lately, I've been dealing with a lot of negative self-talk. I keep telling myself I’m not doing enough, that I’m not productive like everyone else.
It’s easy to feel like you're falling behind, like you're not measuring up.
I don’t know if any of you have ever felt that way, but it can be really overwhelming.
Recently, I discovered something that has made all the difference: painting at night.
It sounds simple, I know, but when I paint, everything in my mind just... quiets down.
The constant chatter of “You’re not enough” or “You should be doing more” fades away.
And for those few hours, it's just me, the canvas, and the colors
It’s like I find a piece of myself that I had lost somewhere along the way.
What’s incredible is that in that quiet space, I feel like I can accomplish anything.
I don’t feel incompetent or stuck.
When I finish a painting, it’s like this little victory that reminds me I am capable.
I may not be where I want to be in every area of my life, but in that moment, I’ve created something.
And that, to me, feels like progress.
So, I guess I’m sharing this because I want anyone who’s struggling to know that it’s okay.
It’s okay to not have everything figured out. It’s okay if you’re not as productive or as successful as you think you should be.
Sometimes, you just have to take small steps forward, even if it’s not as fast as you’d like.
Every step, no matter how small, is still progress.
Whatever you’re going through right now, I promise it will pass.
And even though it may not always feel like it, you are doing well.
You are enough just as you are.
The fact that you're still moving forward means you're already achieving something.
So find your own peace, your own way to reset even if it’s through something small or quiet, like painting, or whatever brings you that calm.
Don’t let the noise in your head drown out the quiet victories.
They matter.
And so do you.
